So this is my final CFE post. I have done three CFE's with different employers and I enjoyed each one very much. It was very hard to figure out what to do for my final Final, but in the end I decided to make a poster that shows the highlights of many peoples CFE experiences this year to hopefully put on the bulletin board in the counseling office about the CFE to replace the old quotes. I'm hoping that this poster will count for my final.
Now along with my Final I was required to also post my response from my employer on the Letter of Recommendation. Currently I do not have one back, but once I do I will post a picture of it and write about their response. With the CFE being over I'm happy that the stress of blog posts and time sheets is over, but I am very sad to be leaving my employers here at Lake Shore. They are all wonderful people and I am so grateful to have had a chance to work with them. I have learned so much and I will never forget what they have done for me. Thank you so much for this opportunity, I enjoyed it very much.

So this past week was my last week going into Ms. Dombrow's for my CFE. During the week we continued on with R&J and did the typical things like warm-ups and watching/reading R&J, but on Friday, my last day, we did something a little different. On Friday we took the class outside to rehearse scenes. That's right for Act 3, Scenes iii and iv the students were preparing to act them out on Monday in groups to the rest of the class. The fun part about this activity for me was that I got to walk around the football field and not only watch the students practice their performances, but help them prefect their performances, which I really enjoy doing. If you didn't know this Romeo and Juliet is one of my favorite pieces by Shakespeare and I love theater. Romeo and Juliet is actually part of the reason why I started to write poetry. Anyway it was a great last day because the students actually wanted to perform for me and asked me questions. Also at the end of class when Ms. Dombrow announced that it was my last day the students actually were very upset and I was not expecting that. I'm actually very sad that my CFE experience is almost over. I wish it lasted longer. I'm really going to miss all the students...If this is what it is like to be a teacher I think I need more practice with having students leave me. Anyway I loved my CFE experience, so thanks for making it available to me.
This past week in my CFE I was only there for four days due to having an AP Literature and Composition Exam on Wednesday, but the week went pretty well. We continued on with R&J and Ms. Dombrow had a fun activity to do where the students listened to the Queen Mab speech given by the character Mercutio and drew what they were picturing before answering some questions. It was interesting to see all the different scenes the students were picturing in their heads. Along with all of this Ms. Dombrow also gave me some words of comfort and tips about my AP exam because she has taken it before, which was very nice of her to do seeing as how I was so stressed out about taking it.
Also for this blog post I was asked to post my evaluation sheet (which you can see pictured above) and my LOR for my third and final CFE here at Lake Shore. I have been doing this CFE for the entire school year with a different employer each time and honestly I am so happy I signed up for this class. All the employers were stellar and I learned a lot about not only teaching, but myself. The one thing that I learned the most was that I need to practice on having more confidence and to ask questions as much as possible in areas that I don't have confidence in. I am proud to announce that I will officially be becoming a teacher in the future and a huge reason why I can even say this confidently is because of this CFE. This past week in my CFE we started reading the first act of William Shakespeares The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Along with starting this act we watched the part of the movie version with Leonardo DiCaprio in it to see what was going on in the play because Shakespeare's plays are meant to be seen and heard not just read in your head. Watching this movie was quite interesting for me because honestly even though I own it, I have never watched it. I have only seen the play performed and the 1986 version of the play. Now the students are reading the play out of textbooks, but luckily I came across a version of the play being discarded from our school library so I get to mark up the pages with annotations, which I have already started to do, so that I can hopefully help the students understand the material better. Also on Thursday this past week Ms. Dombrow was absent, but she had left me with a worksheet for the students where they got to describe their perfect partner and who they believe their parents think their perfect partner would be. If I were to describe my perfect partner for life it would probably be someone whose loyal, a great listener and adorable...pretty much my perfect partner is a...puppy. That's right my perfect partner is a puppy. It's interesting to see that so many people describe another human for a perfect partner when puppies and kittens and all other sorts of animals exist. I'd just be happy with a puppy.
This past week in my CFE the students started out by taking one of the poems that they wrote and making it into a visual piece of poetry. While the students were working on these projects I had my evaluation where I got evaluated as I walked around the room trying to help the students with their projects. On Wednesday we had a gallery walk where we got to see all the final projects and some students even presented their pieces and there was a class vote on the best one. There were many good pieces, that it is hard to even say which one was the winner. Then to end of the week we started to introduce Shakespeare by playing a game. Overall a really great week and I am excited to work with Shakespeare.
This past week in my CFE the students learned about slam poetry and attempted to write some of their own. To help understand the concept of slam poetry we watched a documentary called Louder Than a Bomb. Now slam poetry can be about many things, but it is typically always about social issues and hardships that personally affect someone. The poems range from things like religion (ex. David Bowden) to relationships (ex. Sarah Kay and Phil Kaye) to depression (ex.Patrick Roche) and many more topics. Since the students were attempting to write their own I decided that I would try my hand at the art as well, because it has been a while since I have written any of my own it isn't all that great so the only place you will hear about it is here. The slam poem I wrote is just a letter to my past self and the person I held naively held close even though they were hurting me. I wrote to the pair telling them how now I see all the pain and destruction they wrought and that I do not hate them, but actually I thank them because now I'm in a far better place. No you will never see or hear this piece, but hey at least I wrote something which means I'm working on my goal of trying to make examples of coursework, not all examples have to be shown. So this week for my CFE there is not a ton to say since it was a four day week, but that doesn't mean that there is nothing to say. This past week in my CFE the students wrote elegies and emotion poems. If you don't know what an elegy is it is pretty much a poem dedicated to something lost like a friendship, relationship, family member, etc., etc., you get the idea. Now elegies can get very personal, for example I wrote one inspired by someone in my life who tore me down that I have started to try to forget about for over two years, their memory still haunts me. The emotion poems were a little different. The students choose a random emotion and then tried to describe that emotion without using the name of the emotion in their poem. Now I didn't write one of these as an example for the class, but I did get to help the students try to write their poems which was quite fun. That is a synopsis of what I did in my CFE this week. Things are going great and my new employer is very great. This week for my CFE I moved to yet another employer. Yes that is correct, I am now no longer with Mr. Gwozdz or Ms. Rabbitt, but with Ms. Dombrow another one of the wonderful teachers Lake Shore has to learn from. Honestly, yes I do miss my past employers, but I am happy with my new placement. During this first week of my new employment I have gotten to go with the students to the library to return books and not only write a poem to show the students, but show them how an AP Literature student like myself annotates poetry so that I can help them well they study poetry. I am enjoying getting into poetry with my new class because poetry is such a powerful thing and I could go on and on about all of this, but for sake of time I will keep this short, I am enjoying my new placement and am hopeful for the rest of the trimester. Now as you may or may not remember for the past two trimesters I had two different and successful goals with each employer. My first goal was to figure out if I like teaching which, yes, yes I do and the second was to build relationships with my students and seeing as how they all were begging me to come back when I stopped in the other day to drop something off I would say goal accomplished, now my new goal is to try and do examples of course work or come up with ideas for course work whenever I can...and so far that goal is looking like it will be accomplished seeing as how I have already started doing those things. I just hope I can stick with this goal with the assistance of my wonderful new employer, her weebly site and a new Pinterest board for ideas I have created. Stay tuned or even email my new employer at [email protected] for updates on my accomplishments throughout the trimester.
