This past week in my CFE we started reading the first act of William Shakespeares The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Along with starting this act we watched the part of the movie version with Leonardo DiCaprio in it to see what was going on in the play because Shakespeare's plays are meant to be seen and heard not just read in your head. Watching this movie was quite interesting for me because honestly even though I own it, I have never watched it. I have only seen the play performed and the 1986 version of the play. Now the students are reading the play out of textbooks, but luckily I came across a version of the play being discarded from our school library so I get to mark up the pages with annotations, which I have already started to do, so that I can hopefully help the students understand the material better. Also on Thursday this past week Ms. Dombrow was absent, but she had left me with a worksheet for the students where they got to describe their perfect partner and who they believe their parents think their perfect partner would be. If I were to describe my perfect partner for life it would probably be someone whose loyal, a great listener and adorable...pretty much my perfect partner is a...puppy. That's right my perfect partner is a puppy. It's interesting to see that so many people describe another human for a perfect partner when puppies and kittens and all other sorts of animals exist. I'd just be happy with a puppy.
